Friday November 27th 2009: As we has attended a funeral in Gawler at 12:30pm, we were a little late leaving compared to our original plans but never the less we were on our way towards Moonta Bay by 2:16pm driving under very windy conditions. The wind that we left home with was a sign of what the weather was going to be like for the entire weekend. We had planned on a land based fishing and crabbing weekend but that was soon changed with the windy conditions that prevailed at Moonta Bay. Dion, Sam and Sonia were already set up on their site by the time we arrived at 4:08pm where I was given the do's and don'ts by the lady in the booking office. It almost made me feel like I had done something wrong before I have even stepped foot in the place, I think a good PR course would do wonders for her.
After initially setting up our site, the wind died down and we thought that perhaps the weather may improve but that wasn't to be the case. Within a half of an hour the wind started to blow even stronger than before. At this stage we decided to put the awning out and attach the walls so that we had some shelter from the wind even if it mean sitting in the annex. After a game of Uno it was off to bed to listen to the wind blow and the occasional shower of rain.
Saturday November 28th 2009: Overcast skies and strong winds were the flavor of the day yet again making it impossible to go out onto the jetty to try for some fish. During the morning we went for a drive into Moonta Bay so that Sally could have a look in one of the Craft shops. Unfortunately for Sally the local shop was no longer in business and was all shut up. The wind continued to blow all day with showers of rain on and off making it impossible to even walk out onto the jetty which was a little disappointing. We took a short drive out onto the Minlaton road to enjoy some home made ice cream which was made on the premises that were selling it. The evening was spent listening to the wind blow and playing Rummiking which was new for some of us.
